The LPL-3B Lens technology is designed to block visible green, blue violet and non-visible InfraRed lasers from damaging the wearer’s eyes.  ESS LPL-3B lenses protect against visible violet lasers at 405nm wavelength (5.0 OD), visible blue lasers at 445nm wavelength (3.0 OD), visible green lasers at 532nm wavelength (4.5 OD), non-visible IR lasers at 800-1090nm wavelengths (OD 4.0+), and non-visible IR lasers at 1064nm wavelengths (OD 6.0+).  At a VLT of 22% photopic (daytime) and 8.4% Scotopic (nighttime) this allows for optimum protection and operation versatility in both bright and low light conditions. 

Created with direction from elite U.S. Special Forces groups, and more widely used than any other military/tactical in the world, it has all the advantages of a low-profile, night-vision-compatible frame without sacrifices in dust filtration, field of view, impact protection, or anti-fog performance.

The extra-thick, 2.8mm polycarbonate lenses offer maximum impact protection and 100% UVA/UVB filtration. ESS's advanced ClearZone FlowCoat lens treatments provide the optimal combination of anti-scratch coatings on the outside of the lenses and anti-fog coatings on the inside.
